IRI Recap
Houston, TX -- July 19, 2017 -- After a successful regular season, members of the Spectrum 3847 Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and St. Agnes Academy, engineering team packed up their robot and headed for the Midwest on July 14 & 15 where they competed against the best FIRST Robotics Competition teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Spectrum 3847 was in the top 14 for the alliance selections. TechFire 225 picked Spectrum as their first choice for the #7 alliance. Sparky 384 and Panther Tech 292 completed the alliance The #7 alliance lost in the quarterfinals against the #2 alliance of EngiN 2337 & OP Robotics 2056 & Greater Rochester Robotics 340 & Hilltopers 1732.

Mentor of the Year: Allen Gregory
Spectrum 3847 Mentor Allen Gregory was awarded the IRI Mentor of the Year. He was recognized for developing his students as well rounded professionals, and blending technical with strong communication skills while he builds great friendships with all his team members. He is active in the robotics community; pouring his time into the volunteering as an FRC Lead Robot Inspector, VEX Robotics Head Referee, and helping provide online resources for robotics teams world wide. Allen said “I’m honored to receive such great award, the students on Spectrum are the real reason for any honor that I receive they work countless hours to help make STEM education better for numerous students.”

TRR is July 28th and July 29th
Our next event is coming up quickly in Austin. This is a small event with only 24 teams. It's a great event to get more of member experience driving the robot and running the team event operations.
